Good morning, New Jersey! It’s believed that the first white man to see the Jersey shore was the Italian explorer, Giovanni da Verrazano, as he sailed up the coast in 1524. You may have heard of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, connecting Staten Island and Brooklyn, which is named in his honor.
